George L. Susa, 85 of Monaca died Saturday, March 3, 2012 in Kateras Kove Assisted Living/Secured Dementia Unit, where he has resided since April, 2008.
Born August 24, 1926 in Rochester, he was the son of the late George and Ljuba Pavicic Susa.
George retired from Jones & Laughlin Steel Corp. in 1982 as a General Foreman with 34 years of service.
He served in the United States Air Force during World War II and was honorably discharged in October 1946 at the rank of sergeant.
George was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Monaca. In addition, he belonged to the following organizations: Croatian Club, PNA, S.O.I., and the American Legion, all of Monaca.
Surviving are his son and daughter in law: Thomas and Marilyn Susa of Beaver Falls; a daughter, Patricia Ann Cottage of South Lyon, Michigan; and a very special grandson, Matthew Thomas Susa of Arlington, Massachusetts. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann K. Novosel Susa and a son in law, Donald P. Cottage. Also preceded by three sisters: Theresa Latek, Barbara Konvolinka and Ann Navage.
Friends are welcome to call on Monday from 3-8 pm in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca, where prayers will be offered on Tuesday at 9:30 am followed by a mass of Christian burial at 10 am in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monaca.
Interment will follow in the parish cemetery with military honors at 11 am by the Beaver County Special Unit.
