George W. Armstrong, 81, of Center Township, passed away unexpectedly Monday, May 22, 2017. His passing occurred at Cura Health-Heritage Valley Beaver.He was born on February 17, 1936, in Buckhannon, WV. George served in the US Air Force during the Korean conflict. After retiring from J & L Steel, Aliquippa Works, with 25 years of service, George established Armstrong Auto Body, Center Township, where he remained until September of 2016. He was a life member of the Center Township Volunteer Fire Department # 1.George was a kind-hearted individual, who often gave people a job to help them out. He loved hunting, fishing, and playing cards.He will be sadly missed by his beloved children, Vince (Sharon) Cercone of Thurmont, MD, Gregory (Mark) Cercone of Cranberry Township, Rhonda (Larry) Miller of Center Township, Marie (David) Samovoski of Brunswick, OH and Angela (Shawn) Glumac of Conway and four grandchildren, Larry Miller, Jr., Thomas and Jackson Reiff, and Jordyn Glumac, along with several nieces and nephews.In addition to his mother, Mamie Armstrong, George was preceded in death by his first wife, Charlotte Paxton Armstrong, in 1981; his second wife, JoAnn Guiducci Armstrong in 2016, and three brothers and their wives, Marvin (Ruby) Armstrong, Harold (Helen) Armstrong, and Merle (Tina) Browning.Friends will be received Tuesday, May 23rd, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca, where funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. Reverend Sam DeMarco, of New Brighton Christian Assembly, will officiate.Center Township V.F.D. #1 will conduct a service at 6 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral homeEntombment will follow in the Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum, Hopewell Township.Full military honors will be conducted by the Beaver County Special Unit of Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the cemetery.To share online condolences, get directions and other information, please visit simpsonfuneralhome.com.
