George W. Fath, 72 of New Brighton, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 11, 2019 at his home.A son of the late George and Betty Fath, George was raised in Center Township. Following high school graduation, he entered the US Army during the Vietnam War and served as a MP stationed in Germany. George worked his entire working career for the railroad. He started with the Pennsylvania Railroad, then Conrail, and finally Norfolk Southern Railroad from where he retired as an electrician with 42 years of service. An avid hunter and fisherman, he was a longtime member of the Marion Hill Sportsmen’s Club, Sewickley Conservation Association, and a life member of the NRA. He was also a member of the Monaca-Center Lodge # 791 F & AM and Scottish Rite Consistory in New Castle.George is survived by his wife of 26 years, Donna (McConaughy) Fath, to whom he was united in marriage on February 22, 1992. Two daughters, Melissa (Brendan) Schmuck and Rachel Fath (Mike Kline), two grandchildren; Nicholas & Leah Schmuck and expected granddaughter, Mylee. A brother, Wayne (Lillian) Fath, two nephews whom he considered as sons, Jeff (Denise) Fath and Tim (Jenny) Fath, a great nephew, Aiden, and his mother in law, Doris McConaughy. George is also survived by his brothers in law and sisters in law: Glenn, Melvin, Donald, Darlene, Sally, Tim, Mark, Cheryl and Cynthia and their spouses.In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his father in law, Walter McConaughy and a sister in law, Rosie.Friends will be received on Thursday, February 14, 2019 from 1:00 to 7:00 pm in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca.
