Geraldine L. ‘Jerrilee’ Sturges , 78 of Monaca, formerly of Chippewa passed away Sunday, May 24, 2015 due to cancer.Born October 5, 1936, she was Gerald and Oleta (Ellinger) Shawver’s only child. Jerrilee was raised in Beaver Falls and was a graduate of Beaver Falls High School and Geneva College.For the majority of her life, Jerrilee made her home in Chippewa moving to Monaca five years ago.A homemaker, she made good use of her Kindle as she was an avid reader and a loyal fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers. She was a life memberand past president of the American Legion auxiliary and was a faithful supporter of military veterans.Jerrilee was preceded in death by her parents and her late husband and U S Army Korean War veteran, James C. Sturges on Jan 1, 2014.She leaves her only son, Jerry Smith of Beaver.Friends will be received on Wednesday, May 27th from 4 pm until the time of service at 7 pm in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca.
