Gino DePaolis, 92 of Monaca passed away Thursday morning, January 4, 2018 at Good Samaritan Hospice, Heritage Valley, Beaver.Born on March 12, 1925 in Supino, Italy, he was one of seven children born to Giovanni and Maria DePaolis. Gino had a twin brother, Vincenzo and three other brothers, Dovino, Sozio and Giuseppe and two sisters, Natalena and Loretta.As a young man, Gino served in the Italian Army as a military police. He arrived in Toronto, Canada in 1952 where he remained for 23 months working on a farm and construction work.On July 25, 1953, Gino was united in marriage to Clara Battalene and moved to Monaca in 1954 where they remained.A hard worker and good provider, Gino was employed at the former Rheem Company in Monaca as an enamel helper for 13 years followed by 24 years as a steel worker at the former J & L Steel’s Aliquippa works’ tin mill. Following his retirement in 1990, Gino worked as a school crossing guard for the Monaca Boro for 9 years at the corner of 15th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue.He particularly enjoyed gardening and wine making. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monaca.He leaves to mourn his loss, three children, Marisa DePaolis and John DePaolis and his wife, Robyn, all of Monaca, and Guy ‘Nino’ DePaolis of Houston, Texas. Two grandchildren, Isabella DePaolis of Houston, Texas and Danielle Kramer and her husband, Dave of Monaca and three great grandchildren, Cassie, Cayden and Cambrie Kramer.Gino was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Clara on March 19, 2017.Friends will be received on Monday, January 8 from 3 – 8 pm in the Tatalovich Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 3475 Brodhead Road, Center Township where services will be held on Tuesday at 10 am Entombment will follow in Sylvania Hills Mausoleum.Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca.To share online condolences, get directions and other information, please visit simpsonfuneralhome.com.
