Gino DeSantis, 89 of Monaca joined his wife, Dolores on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at Heritage Valley, Beaver.
Born in the village of Cansano, the Abruzzo region of Italy. He was a son of the late Domenico and Elizabetta DeSantis and the youngest of five children. Gino was raised in West Aliquippa and honorably served in the US Army in the Korean Conflict. He was a life member of the SOI where he previously held several offices in addition to the Sons of Columbus and also was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Monaca. He was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan.
In addition to his parents, Gino was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores on August 5, 2015, two brothers, Salvatore and Giovanni, and two sisters, Liberata Mancini and Anina Pietrandrea.
He will be sadly missed by his children, Lisa Mendicino of Center Township, Gerry DeSantis of Chicago, IL, and Gene DeSantis of Dallas, TX, and his beloved granddaughter Maura (Richie) Vetica who was the light of his life, and his great grandson, Micah Carlo, and numerous nieces and nephews: Domenic (Mary) DeSantis. the late Edward DeSantis, Gary (Karen) DeSantis, Marie Kern, Viola (Rege) Dornick, the late Joann Antonis, the late Philip Mancini, Yvonne (Frank) Martilotti, Dona Reynolds, and Teresa (Roger) Steyer.
Friends will be received on Saturday from 9:00 to 10:30 am in the SIMPSON FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, 1119 WASHINGTON AVE., MONACA where prayers will be offered at 10:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
Due to COVID 19 restrictions, there will be a celebration of life at a later date. Entombment will be in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum, Rochester.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Gino’s memory to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 1409 Pennsylvania Avenue, Monaca, PA 15061.
The family would like to thank the staff of St. Barnabas Beaver Meadows for the care they provided Gino during the past year and along with the staff of Heritage Valley, Beaver and Dr. Benjamin Laracuente.
