Girard P. Genevie, 87 of Cambridge Village, Beaver Falls formerly of East Rochester, passed away on Monday, May 27, 2019 at Cleveland VA Hospital.
Born on June 2, 1931 he was the son of the late John Edward and Catherine (Shroeder) Genevie.
Girard is a Veteran of the US Army having honorably served during the Korean Conflict as a corporal. He was a former police chief of East Rochester and worked for local # 66 operating engineers during the construction of the Beaver/Vanport bridge. Girard retired from Penndot as the Beaver County State Road Supervisor. He loved to hunt and fish and was a die hard Steelers fan. Girard was always a jokester and enjoyed playing the lottery.
He will be sadly missed by his children; Girard “Petey” Genevie, Jr. of Virginia, Lisa (Jerry) Lathom of New Brighton, Paul (Linda) Genevie of Laplata, MD and Richard (Lisa) Genevie of Poteau, OK, 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, a sister, Catherine Hutsky of East Rochester, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son David J. Genevie and his wife Patricia and a grandson SPC Aaron Michael Genevie, two infant great grandchildren, and several brothers and sisters.
Friends will be received on Saturday, June 1st from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca where a blessing service will be held at 3:00 pm. with full military honors performed by the Beaver County Special Unit. Inurnment will be in St. Cecilia Catholic Cemetery, Rochester at a later date.
