Harriet T. McGowan of Pulaski Township, left this earth in the arms of an angel to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2007. She passed peacefully surrounded by her friends and family at the home of Mary and Lee Fedeles, Pulaski Township.
Harriet was born on April 27, 1926, in New Brighton, a daughter of the late Paul L. and Henrietta (Fogel) Welsh. She grew up in New Brighton where she was baptized in the Trinity Lutheran Church and was a 1943 graduate of New Brighton High School. She was a retiree of Beaver County Domestic Relations with 24 years of employment and was a former member of the Rochester BPOE Auxiliary and the Rochester VFW Auxiliary. Harriet’s greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her late husband, Louis E. McGowan, in July 1983. She was also preceded by her parents, a niece, Marsha Blatz, and by her dear friend, Gayle Gau.
She leaves her twin brother, Harry L. (Darlene) Welsh of Woodstock, Ga.; a sister, Gladys Snyder of New Brighton; sisters-in-law, Madonna Thompson, in Wisconsin, and LaRue McGowan of New Brighton; her best friend and sister-in-law, Edna Namola of Beaver Falls; her close and special friends, Mary and Lee Fedeles of Pulaski Township, with whom she resided for the past five years, and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Friends will be received today, Aug 26, 2007, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the SIMPSON FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca, (724-775-0926), where relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service on Monday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Phyllis Alston, chaplain of Medi-Home Hospice, officiating.
Interment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.
