Harry E. Hood, Jr., 89 of New Brighton, formerly of Center Township, passed away Sunday afternoon, February 10, 2013, at Friendship Ridge.
Born December 7, 1923, in Marshall Township, Allegheny County, he was a son of the late Harry E. Sr. and Grace (McCauley) Hood. A U.S. Army veteran Harry was a retiree of Local 66 Operating Engineers. He was united in marriage to the former Lyda D. Fath and together they celebrated 66 years of marriage. Harry enjoyed camping and hunting.
In addition to his wife, Lyda, he leaves three nephews, George W. Fath and his wife, Donna, of New Brighton, Wayne L. Fath and his wife, Lillian, of New Brighton and George Summerville and his wife, Louise, and their family of Center Township and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Along with his parents Harry was preceded in death by a brother, Tom Hood.
Friends will be received Thursday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. until the time of service at 8 p.m. in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca. Rev. Doug Rabe, pastor of Monacrest Free Methodist Church, Monaca, will officiate.
He will be laid to rest at Sylvania Hills Mausoleum.
