Helen E. McDonnell

Helen E. McDonnell, 95, of Monaca, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2018.Born on May 7, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Michaliszak) Trella.  Helen enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and watching the ‘soaps’.  She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monaca and Christian Mothers.Helen was preceded in death by her husband, James P. McDonnell in 2005, an infant daughter, Mary Margaret, infant great grandchild, Joella Ann, seven brothers; Mike, Stanley, Joseph, John, Paul, Pete and Henry Trella, two sisters; Katy Grossglass and Sophie Paster.She is survived by her children; James P. McDonnell, Jr. and Sue (Lee) Allman, five grandchildren; Sarah, Jessica, Joseph (Victoria) McDonnell, Melissa (Jake) Lowther, Brandon Allman, great grandchildren; Shauna, Santino, Stella Jo, Parker, three brothers; Charles “Whip” (Dorothy), Martin (Marie) and Frank (Jackie) Trella.Friends will be received on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca, where prayers will be offered on Monday at 12:30 pm followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 pm in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monaca.  Interment will follow in the Parish cemetery.To share online condolences, get directions and other information, please visit simpsonfuneralhome.com.
