Helen F. Olshanski, 86 of Monaca passed away on Saturday morning, March 28, 2015 at Rochester Manor.A lifelong resident of Monaca, Helen was born on September 19, 1928 and was one of five children born to the late John and Edwina (Barscz) Waskaski.Helen had previously worked in the cafeteria of the former Monaca High School and as a Monaca 3rd Ward crossing guard. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monaca and the Polish Falcons and served as a Democratic Party Committee woman. Her family fondly remembers her preparing delicious Polish dishes.Helen was preceded in death by her parents as well as her husband, John Olshanski, who passed on October 24, 1992. The last of her immediate family, she was preceded by three brothers: Chester, Edward and Pete Waskaski and a sister, Stella Crabtree.She leaves four sons: John (Donna) Olshanski of Jacksonville, Fla.; Edward (Antoinette) Olshanski of Monaca, Matthew Olshanski of Monaca and Thaddeus (Terri) Olshanski of Mountain Lakes, N.J. Three daughters: Patricia (Adam) Barnhart of Harrisburg; Valerie (Ronald) DeLauter of Rochester and Dreena (Mark) Wobrak of Avon, Ohio. Sixteen grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.Friends will be received on Tuesday, March 31st from 2-4 and 6-8 pm in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca, where prayers will be offered on Wednesday at 9:30 am followed by a mass of Christian burial at 10 am in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monaca.
