Howard E. \”Bud\” Miller, Jr., 80, of Rochester Township, passed away Tuesday evening, July 26, 2011, following an extended illness.
Born September 24, 1930, in New Brighton, he was a son of the late Howard E. Sr. and Hazel (Howe) Miller. A graduate of New Brighton High School, Bud retired from Hydril Co. of Rochester as a tool room supervisor following 32 years of service. He had a passion for music, particularly from the 30’s and 40’s era; and often spent time researching various tunes. Bud was known to sing and whistle around the house. He was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Rochester. A life member of the NRA, Bud enjoyed hunting in the mountains, gardening and just ‘puttering’ around the yard.
He leaves to mourn his loss his loving wife, Margaret R. Paliotte Miller, with whom he was united in marriage on April 11, 1953, in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monaca; four children, Thomas E. (Cindy) Miller of Enon Valley, Janet M. Miller of East Palestine, OH, Howard E. III (Carrie) Miller of New Brighton and David S. (Gaylen) Miller of Darlington; five granddaughters, two great-granddaughters and two great-grandsons; a sister, Gwen (George) Craig in Rochester Township; four sisters-in-law, Hannah Paliotte of Brighton Township, Catherine Haney of Midland, Rita Paliotte of Monaca and Sister Mary Margaret Paliotte of Pittsburgh; a brother-in-law, Paul (Liz) Paliotte of Warren, MI, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Bud was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Barbara Ann Miller, in 1955.
Everyone is invited to call at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 632 Virginia Ave., Rochester on Friday, July 29, 2011, at 9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 10 a.m. His pastor, Reverend Father James Menkhus, will be the celebrant.
Interment will take place in St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Center Township.
The family has suggested memorial contributions be made to St. Cecilia Catholic Church Building Fund, 632 Virginia Ave., Rochester, PA 15074.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to SIMPSON FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, Monaca.
