Ilene Clare (Brenneman) Rowan passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2023 peacefully at home from sudden heart complications.

Born December 1, 1961 to the late Donald and Olive (Troy) Brenneman. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband Michael “Mickey” Rowan, her sisters Emily and Maureen, and brother-in-law Martin Barrett.

A true daughter of Monaca, Ilene attended St. John the Baptist School and graduated from Monaca High School, class of 1980. Much like her mother, Ilene was well known for her big and bold personality, popularity, and winning sense of humor. A fun-loving people person, she made new friends wherever she went – whether it be Monaca, throughout western PA, or across Ohio, Virginia, Florida, and beyond. She was a dedicated fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates and, more recently, enjoyed rooting for Central Valley athletics and sharing laughs at the Monaca Turners bingo night.

Ilene loved her family and friends passionately, and dedicated her life in service of those relationships – sharing joys, laughter, and standing by her loved ones through difficult times. Married in 1996, her husband Mickey was the love of her life and they spent nearly 25 years together living life to the fullest. Yet, more than anything, she loved her sons Robert Colwell of Akron, OH and Neil (Carly Devine) Colwell of Monongahela, PA and her two precious grandchildren Sawyer and Andie.

She also leaves behind two sisters and two brothers: Donna Hudson of Beaver; Jeanne Barrett (Edward Smith) of Saint Petersburg, FL; Robert Brenneman (Heather) of Mineral, VA; Donald Brenneman (Deborah) of Springboro, OH; 10 nieces and nephews; 15 great nieces and nephews; and two first cousins, Pam Fronko of Monaca; Jim Brenneman (Linda) of Monaca.

Friends will be received at SIMPSON FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca on Saturday, October 21 at 1pm followed by a Celebration of Life at 2pm. The family invites friends to join them at the Monaca Turners immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Monaca Parks & Recreation Department: 928 Pennsylvania Ave. Monaca, PA 15061.
