James D. Thomas, 73, of Monaca passed away on April 30, 2021 at Heritage Valley Hospital in Beaver. He was born in Rochester on August 21, 1947 to Jim and Betty Thomas (both deceased). He spent most of his career as a bread truck delivery driver, and after he retired took a position he loved at HAP working with the mentally and physically challenged. He loved working with the residents and clients!
When not working; Jim loved singing with the Beaver Valley Barbershop Chorus and the Penn-Ohio Singers. He was also an active member of his church choir. He loved collecting coins and was an avid sports fan.
He is survived by his daughter, Lisa, and her husband CJ, of Monaca. He leaves behind four grandchildren, Grayson, Maura, Elizabeth, and Marina (Louisa, VA). He is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Clark and Calvin. (Louisa, VA). He leaves behind numerous sister and brother in laws as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and many very close friends. His high school sweetheart and wife of fifty years, Cathy (Figley) Thomas, passed away just months ago, as well as his dear brother, Dan Thomas (Asheville, NC).
A memorial service will be held on Sat., May 29 at 11:00 am at Monacrest Free Methodist Church in Monaca Heights.
