James H. Beck, 79 of Baden, died Wednesday, March 21, 2007, in Kindred Hospital, Medical Center.
Born Nov. 17, 1927, in Ambridge, a son of the late William H. and Margaretha Graham Beck, he was retired from Armco Steel with 42 years of service and had owned and operated a small concrete construction business for many years. He was a member of the Good Samaritan Church; Baden American Legion, and was a U.S. Army Korean War veteran having served as a military police officer.
Surviving are his wife, Rose M. Gagliardi Beck; a son and daughter-in-law, James F. and Susan Beck, Baden; two daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Ralph Strano, Lexington, Ky., and Joann and Anthony Gennaro, Hopewell Township; two brothers and sisters-in-law, William and Gladys Beck and Harold and Carol Beck, all of Economy; three sisters, Marion Sergeant, Aliquippa; Johanna Clawson, Economy, and Celia Jewell, Brighton Township; nine grandchildren, Aleah and Olivia Strano; Kelly, William and James F. Beck Jr., and Natalie, Rachael, Vanessa and Anthony Gennaro Jr., and many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received today from 1 to 4 p.m. in the BOHN-MATICH FUNERAL HOME, INC., 1099 Maplewood Ave., Ambridge, where a service will be held Monday at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 9:30 a.m. in the Good Samaritan Church.
Interment will follow in Good Samaritan Cemetery.
The Beaver County Special Unit will meet at 10:15 a.m. at the cemetery to provide full military honors.
Members of the Baden American Legion will conduct a service today at 6:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
