James R. Short, 80, of Beaver Falls, passed away Thursday, July 23, 2015, at his home surrounded by his loving family.Born January 20, 1935, he was a son of the late George P. and Marjorie (Kerr) Short.Jim is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Lillian M. Short and two loving daughters, Cynthia A. Winston and Vicki M. Lancos and her husband, Jeffrey, whom he considered as a special ‘son’; four grandchildren, Shelby Lancos Cable and husband, Chad, Jeffrey ‘D Man’ Lancos, Cory James Winston and Jeremy Winston and a great-grandson, Ethan Winston. He is also survived by two brothers, Larry W. and Donald R. Short and a sister, Evelyn Bennett. Jim has two special army buddies of 60 years, Clyde Hershey and Vic Jenson.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Harold L. Short in 2005.Jim served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a courier and security N.C.O. for the Army Security Agency. His unit was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation for its work during the war. Upon returning home, Jim gained employment with J & L Steel Corp. where he remained until his retirement in 1986.
