James Taormina, 82 of Monaca passed away on Friday, January 8, 2021.
A lifelong resident of Monaca, James was the youngest of six children born to the late Joseph and Elizabeth Taormina. Jim entered the US Army and honorably served his country during the Korean Conflict at the 96th parallel in Korea. While growing up he enjoyed playing baseball and later enjoyed bowling. He was a retiree of Westinghouse Electric in Vanport from where he retired with over 30 years of employment. Jim was an avid Steeler and Pirate fan. He was a member of the Monaca Turners, a life member of American Legion Post #580, and a member of the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Monaca where he was baptized and married.
Jim will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Carole J. (Thornburg) Taormina, three sisters-in-law, Lil Taormina in Las Vegas, Janet Taormina in Florida, and Mary Taormina in Center Township, and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Anthony, Daniel (Dolly), Samuel, and Joseph, and a sister, Lena (Bob) D’Antonio.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 from 3:00 to 7:00 pm in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca, where prayers will be offered on Thursday at 9:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church on Thursday at 10:00 am. Interment with full military honors will follow in the Parish cemetery.
