“The angels are always near to those who are grieving, to whisper to them that their loved ones are safe in the hand of God.”On January 8, 2018, Jason Michael Petrella, age 42 of Monaca, died suddenly from natural causes. Jason was a 1994 graduate of Monaca High School and a 1998 graduate of St. Francis College. He received his Masters degree from the School of Public and International Affairs from the University of Pittsburgh in 2008. He spent the majority of his career in banking with positions in Washington D.C. and Columbus OH before returning home. Anyone who knew Jason, knew his true passion was politics and government. He ran for the State Senate in 2008 and remained engaged in politics throughout his life. He thoroughly enjoyed talking to people and learning more about them. Jason was an Officer in the Monaca Sons of Italy Lodge, and member of the Monaca Wolves Club and Beaver County Chamber of Commerce. Jason is survived by his Father and best friend, Donald E. Petrella (Sherry), of Monaca and his Mother, the late Paula M. Petrella. He was the loving brother to his sisters Lisa Petrella, of Shaler and Robyn (Pete) Tsudis, of Ben Avon. He was a treasured uncle to nieces Mia, Nella and Sofia Tsudis and Grace and Isabella Neff who will miss him always. Jason is survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.Friends will be received on Friday from 2:00 to 8:00 pm in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca where prayers will be offered on Saturday at 9:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monaca. Thinking of last August's cruise. We were gearing up for our birthdays to come in early celebration, headed for age 42. I told you that the trip was made for you when we got back. It was so clear. Everywhere you went, every person you met, including the perfect days we had of weather were made for you. Sitting in the cabana, I looked out to see you on the jet ski, you were leading the pack up near where the guides were, flying. You came back and said, "I felt God out there Mike, I was flying and could have flew off and wouldn't have cared." I felt God's spirit coming off you as you approached me and knew it was true. I'm so glad that we remained such close friends for 42 years. I miss your texts and trying to get a rise out of me, which you usually did. I see now, you were just telling me that you loved me in your way. You only get one best friend in life. I had the best. I take comfort in knowing that tonight you rest eternally at peace. At the Lord's table, enjoying your reward. One day we will sail again my brother. I miss you so much. Love, Mike

I remember Jason when he was a young lad n grade school . I was privileged to have him as a student at Monaca elementary. He was always pleasant, respectful, brilight, hardworking and an all around great kid who grew to be an outstanding gentleman. Deepest sympathy to his family, he was taken too young but he touched many lives in a positive way. God rest his soul!

Jason was my first friend ever from school. We remained friends throughout all our years at Monaca. This is so sad and heart wrenching. Such a truly nice person, honest person, and a character for those who knew him then and I’m sure still was. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
