Jean?s pure soul, compassionate heart and unconditional love, was called by our Lord. Now at home with God and her husband, Jean?s kindness and caring touched the lives of so many.
Her unselfishness and devotion to her family was truly remarkable, the closest thing to pure and perfect love a mother and grandmother could give. Jean always saw the best in everyone even in her own trials and tribulations.
God has taken his angel home, but Mom (Nana) will be greatly missed by all she touched as never forgotten. We love you.
Jean ?Nana? Merendo, 89, of Monaca passed away Wednesday morning, February 6, 2013, at her daughter?s residence. Born October 26, 1923, in Pittsburgh, she was the last surviving child of the late Anthony and Mary (Antkiewicz) Kamzelski. A graduate of Ambridge High School, Jean received her licensed practical nurse?s degree from Community College of Beaver County in Freedom in 1964. Jean started her employment as a nurse?s aide at the Beaver County Home for the Aged (now Friendship Ridge), and after receiving her license she worked as a pediatric nurse at Rochester Hospital and a cardiac nurse at Aliquippa Hospital before retiring after 26 years of faithful service. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Monaca and the parish?s Christian Mothers. Jean enjoyed playing bingo and taking pleasant summer auto rides with her husband and her niece, Adie, with an occasional stop at The Dutch House. Her whole life was devoted to caring for her husband and her children.
In addition to her parents, on July 19, 2009, Jean was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Merendo, with whom she was united in marriage on July 31, 1942.
