Jeffrey W. Fath, 52, of Daugherty Township, passed away in his wife’s arms as the sun was setting on June 17th, 2023 at Good Samaritan Hospice, Wexford after a 3 day stay and following a 9 year battle with cancer.
His determination, fortitude, resiliency and will to stay with us is awe inspiring.
Jeff was a 1989 graduate of New Brighton High School where he was an Honor Roll student and participated in track and football. Following High School, he graduated from Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics with a degree as an Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic. He started his airline career with Chautauqua Airlines, Akron-Canton Airport and then US Airways, Pittsburgh International Airport. After he was furloughed from US Airways, due to 9-11, Jeff worked for First Energy – Bruce Mansfield Plant as a Power Plant Mechanic. He was currently employed for the past 19 years by Sherwin Williams Manufacturing Co., (formerly Valspar Corporation) in Rochester, PA. He was hired as a Process Chemical Operator and most recently worked in the Shipping and Receiving Department with many coworkers that he was proud to call friends. Jeff served as the Treasurer for USW Local 256L.
Jeff was a natural athlete. He enjoyed bodybuilding and competed in the Mr. Pittsburgh Bodybuilding Competition. He was very charismatic, always smiling, had a quick wit, great sense of humor, strong work ethic and was fiercely loyal to those he cherished and loved. He was a car and music enthusiast, very detail oriented and took great pride in his home and maintaining his immaculate lawn and landscaping. He had a soft spot in his heart for all of his fur babies through the years.
Surviving is his wife, Denise (Smith), whom he started dating in 1992 and married in 2001. They were inseparable for the last 31 years and made a great team. It didn’t matter what he was doing as long as it was with Denise (aka, his Best Friend, Rock and Secret Weapon).
Also surviving, his mother Lillian Fath, brother Tim (Jenny) Fath and nephew Aiden Fath all of Leetonia, Ohio. Uncle John (Beth) Bennett of New Brighton and several cousins.
.
He was preceded in death by his father Wayne Fath, grandparents George (Betty) Fath and Shirley Bennett, Uncles George Fath and Daniel Bennett, Mother-in-law Dorothy Smith.
Jeff’s life was like a death defying journey. He lived fearlessly and ran towards life. The past 9 years he battled colon cancer, 7 years at Stage IV. Jeff was a colon cancer rebel. “When you die it does not mean that you lose to cancer. You beat cancer by how you live, why you live and in the manner in which you live” -Stuart Scott.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
“Husband, I was supposed to spend the rest of my life with you. But instead you spent the rest of your life with me.”
As per Jeff’s wishes, there will be no services. Cremation arrangements were made by Simpson Funeral & Cremation Service, Monaca PA.
