Jessie Smith, 91, formerly of Monaca, passed away Saturday evening, March 26, 2016, at Beaver Meadows, Brighton Township, where she has resided for the past number of years.Born September 22, 1924, in Beaver Falls, she was a daughter of the late Stanley and Laura Stanczak.Jessie worked for the former Economy Supermarket in Beaver Falls and later for Valley Wholesale Grocery in Darlington retiring in 1984 with a total of 30 years of employment in the grocery business. She was a member of St John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monaca, and a former member of the Polish Falcons – Nest #87 and the American Legion Post #580 Auxiliary. Jessie was a 1942 graduate of Beaver Falls High School.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her late husband, James R. “Big Jim” Smith, a longtime Monaca postman; two brothers, Aloysius and Frank Stanczak and two sisters, Catherine Comeau and Frances Turek.She is survived by a nephew, Frank (Pam) Stanczak and a niece, Charlene Stanczak; two sisters-in-law, June (Bill) Stalnecker and Hattie Gitts and a brother-in-law, Donald L. Smith, along with numerous nieces and nephews.Friends will be received on Tuesday, March 29th, from 11:30 a.m. until the time of parting prayers at 1 p.m. in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca. A mass of Christian burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. in St John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monaca.
