Joan Delores (Dennis) Parrish, aged 79, passed away in her home October 2, 2021, surrounded by her family. Joan was born in Fisher, Arkansas to the late Florence Irene and Richard Turner Dennis.
After graduating high school, Joan went on to get her nursing degree at Methodist hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. During her nursing education, she met the love of her life, Vaughn Paul Parrish. Joan worked at Methodist hospital until she married Vaughn on July 16, 1965 and moved to western Pennsylvania.
Joan’s favorite activity was taking care of her husband, Vaughn, her son, Paul and her daughter, Debbie. She and Vaughn enjoyed traveling in the RV with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Joan spent many years caring for others, but her favorites were her grandchildren. Allison, Tyler and Michael were the greatest joy in her life.
Joan is preceded in death by her husband, Vaughn P. Parrish, her parents Florence Irene and Richard Turner Dennis, two sisters, Rachael Pohlner and Edna Neal and two brothers, LeRoy Dennis and Bobby Earl Dennis. She is also preceded in death by many aunts, uncles, friends, nieces and nephews.
Joan is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Vaughn “Paul” and Elizabeth Parrish (of Industry, PA) and a daughter, Deborah Denice Parrish (of Monaca, PA), her 3 grandchildren: Allison Denice Parrish and Tyler William Parrish (of Industry) and Michael Vaughn Parrish (of Texas).
Friends will be received on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca where a private service will be held on Thursday. Interment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, Rochester.
The family has suggested memorial contributions be made, if desired to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105
