John ‘Jack’ H. Berresford, 74, of Patterson Township, passed away on Wednesday evening, April 13, 2016, at Providence Care Center, Beaver Falls, where he had been a patient for the past four weeks. His passing occurred peacefully in the company of his loving family following a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease.Born February 3, 1942, in Beaver Falls, Jack was the eldest child of the late Glenn and Margaret Berresford. He was a graduate of Beaver Falls High School, class of 1960.On August 27, 1962, Jack married the love of his life, the former Judith M. Winkle, and shared 48 years of marriage until her passing on August 31, 2010. Jack had a love of cars, particularly hot rods. A founding member of Cruzin’ Few Unique Vehicle Club, he served as the club’s first president, an office which he held for 10 years. He was also a member of the Monaca-Center Lodge #791, F. & A.M. since 1971 and a former member of the Monaca #1, Station 56 Vol. Fire Department. Jack retired as a millwright from Babcock & Wilcox in Beaver Falls and later from Duquesne Light Co.He leaves his one and only daughter, Shari Mills and her husband, Mark, who passionately cared for her dad during his illness; two grandchildren whom he loved beyond measure, LeighAnn Mills and her fiancé, Sam Dubel, and Zachary Mills and his girlfriend, Ashley Morris; along with a brother, Ken (Marilyn) Berresford; a sister, Barb (Bill) Shaffer; a sister-in-law, Darla (Jerry) Lavalle; and nieces and nephews, Sam (Heather) Berresford, Peter Lavalle and Beth (late Mark) Lavalle. He was ‘Pap’ to many ‘adopted’ grandchildren.In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by his in-laws, Leroy and Lillian Winkle.Friends will be received Saturday from 12 noon until the time of service at 6 p.m. in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca.
