John J. Kurfess

John (Jack) J. Kurfess, Sr., 75, of Industry, passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2023. He was born May 6, 1947 in Rochester, a son of the late John (Jack) and Mamie (Refice) Kurfess.

John was a member of the Center Area High School’s first graduating class of 1965. He honorably served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Jack retired from Verizon after 34 years of service. He was an avid golfer who also bowled and played softball in the past.

Jack was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be dearly missed. Surviving is his wife, of 54 years, Virginia ‘Suzzie’ (Hawk) Kurfess, two daughters Lauri and Tammi, a son John (JJ), brother Bruce; five grandchildren, Faith, Jeffrey, Cheyanne, Brittany and Brian and two great-grandchildren, Amyeline and Delilah.

Friends will be received on Monday, April 24, from 2-4 and 6-8 in Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca where a service will be conducted on Tuesday at 10:00 am with his life long friend Norman Colville, officiating.

Interment will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
