John W. Whippo, formerly of Rochester passed away, Saturday, December 3, 2016. at Brighton Rehab and Wellness CenterBorn September 2, 1938 in Rochester where he was raised and lived the majority of his life.John was united in marriage on March 17, 1962 to the former Henrietta F. Pfeifer who preceded him in death on March 16, 2013. From this union came a daughter, Christina Whippo Strati who resides in Beaver Falls with her husband, Joseph and their children, Cole, Bryce and Jolie; two sons: John Whippo who resides in Sabattus, Maine with his wife, Amanda and their children, Brandi, Jace and Henry and Chad Whippo who resides in Patterson Township with Sadie Fusco and her son, Trent. He is also survived by a brother, Donnie Whippo and his wife, Dee of Rochester and a sister, Donna Benko and her husband, Marty of Wilmington, N.C.Those who have gone before him in additional to his wife, are his parents, Emerson and Irene (McCusker) Whippo. A brother, Chuck Whippo and two sisters, Judy Reeher and Cynthia Labasik.John was a U S Army veteran having served during the Vietnam Era. John began his working career as a millwright with Crucible Steel in Midland and later gained employment with with Phoenix Glass Company in Monaca from where he retired.John enjoyed following Beaver County high school football and could be seen in the stands on Friday nights watching the games or seen throughout the week in Rochester or Beaver taking a walk.Friends will be received on Tuesday, December 6th from 2-4 and 6-8 pm in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca where a private family service will take place on Wednesday with the Reverend Doug Rabe, officiating. Interment will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.A special note of thanks is extended to the staff of 2E of Brighton Rehab and Wellness Center for the kindness and care that was shown to John during his stay.The family has suggested memorial contributions be made, if desired to the Alzheimer’s Association Greater Pennsylvania, 2595 Interstate Dr., Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110 or alz.org or 800 272 3900.
