Joseph “Joe” E. Springer Sr.

Mournfully, we announce the passing of Joseph Edgar Springer, Sr. of Monaca, PA on April 21, 2021 at Concordia Villa St. Joseph in Baden.

“Joe” is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Anne (Schneider) Springer, daughter, Denise Lessyk of Baden, and son, Joseph E. (Denise) Springer, Jr. of Waddell, AZ, four grandchildren who he greatly loved, Samantha & A.J. Lessyk of Baden, Christopher Springer of Leavenworth, KS and Katarina Springer of Waddell, AZ., his brother Jack (Cheryl) Springer of Beaver Falls, a sister Nancy Lomagro of Beaver, a sister and brother-in-law, Edward (Kathy) Renner of Sewickley, a sister-in-law, Rose Marie Robinson of Bloomfield Hills, MI, and many dear nieces and nephews.  He was loved by many and will be sorely missed.

He was born in 1938 in Vanport, PA to Joseph M. Springer and Elizabeth J. (Fox) Springer.   Joe graduated from Rochester High School in 1956 and later from Penn State.  His career spanned 47 years at St. Joe Lead/Horsehead Ind. in Monaca, working in research and metallurgical engineering and consulting after his retirement from Horsehead Ind.  Joe had been active in his church at St. John the Baptist, in Monaca as a devout parishioner, volunteering as a Eucharistic Minister, choir member, and at church social functions.  He enjoyed bowling and golf in various St. Joe Lead/ZCA Leagues and traveling to Hilton Head Island, SC and Vero Beach, FL with his wife.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Elizabeth Springer, a brother, Richard Springer, a brother-in-law, Philip Lomagro, and a son-in-law, John Lessyk.

There will be no viewing at the request of the deceased.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 9:30 am in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monaca followed by interment in St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery.
