Joseph H. Sabella, 75, formerly of Monaca and Orange County, CA, passed away Monday, October 28, 2013, at Friendship Ridge.Born April 13, 1938, in Freedom, he was a son of the late Felice and Mary (Selia) Sabella. Joe was a graduate of Monaca High School and attended Duquesne University and Geneva College. After serving in the US Navy, Joe gained employment with Swepco Steel Co. where he had an illustrious career as a sales representative, travelling throughout the west coast. He later made his home in Orange County, California. He enjoyed golfing, snow skiing and tennis where he had once played with Tom Selleck. He was known for his penchant for Red Hot sauce at every meal. Over the years he touched many people with his good humor and friendly demeanor.He leaves a daughter, Alexandra Sabella in California and her mother, Sandra; a sister, Rose Grant of Beaver; two brothers, Francis Sabella of Center Township and Ernie (Patti) Sabella of Monaca; a nephew, Dave (Debbie) Grant in addition to numerous other nieces and nephews.Along with his parents Joe was preceded in death by a brother, Gilbert.Friends will be received Friday, November 1st, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca, where parting prayers will be conducted Saturday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monaca.
