Joseph Paul ?Joe? Lyden, 81, of Brighton Twp., passed away on June 17, 2012, at Heritage Valley Beaver.
Born July 29, 1930, on Love Street in Swissvale, PA, he was the son of the late Cecelia Christy Lyden and John Joseph Lyden. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church of Monaca. He was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps and Founder of Beaver Valley Welding Supply.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John Francis Lyden and a sister, Mary Dominica Maloney.
He leaves his loving wife of 57 years, Shirley M. Lyden; a sister, Catherine Lyden Fernandez, and seven children: Jan Culp (Walt), Joseph Paul, Jr. (Connie), Jeanne Blades (Ed), John C. ?Jack? (Lynette), Jeffrey F. (Linda), James, and Jay Christopher (Kerry). In addition, he is survived by his grandchildren, Christopher Culp, Katie Ann Culp, Matthew Blades, Benjamin Blades, John Michael Lyden, Celia Lyden George, Susanna Lyden Clermont, Melissa Lyden Albanes, Sydney, Paige and Jordan Lyden and Daniel and John Dunfee. Four great-grandchildren, Emily Lyden, Nathan George, Annastasia Lyden and Phebe Falavolito, a sister-in-law, Virginia Gleason and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received on Tuesday and Wednesday, June 19th and 20th, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Thursday, June 21st, at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, Monaca by Monsignor Paul Joseph Belzer.
Interment will follow at the parish cemetery.
The family gives special thanks to the nurses in the Critical Care Unit at Heritage Valley Beaver.
