Joseph Stephen Golixer, 97 of W. Aliquippa passed away on Monday, November 14, 2022 at Good Samaritan Hospice, Heritage Valley.
Born in Aliquippa, he was a son of the late Joseph J. and Helen Golixer.
Joe was a patriotic American and proud Veteran who served his country during World War II in the U S Army. Having fought in several battles including the Normandy Invasion, he was awarded the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 5 Bronze Stars. He then enlisted in the U S Air Force during the Korean War.
Joe met his late wife, the former Carol ‘Jeannie’ Tedys while both were employed at Sewickley Hospital. Joe was later employed at National Electric in Ambridge and then at J & L Steel Corp (L T V ) as a rail crane operator and cherry picker until the mill closed. He was last employed at the Center Township McDonalds’ in the maintenance department. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, building models and zigsaw puzzles.
Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Carol on May 20, 2019.
He leaves a daughter, Collette Marie Golixer-Caplan and her husband, Gary Caplan. A son, Michael Golixer and four grandchildren, Stephen Golixer and Dustin, Bailey and Malerie. He is also survived by a sister, Irene Staving.
Friends will be received on Thursday, November 17th from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at SIMPSON FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca, (724 728 4000) where services will be held at 8 PM. Interment with military honors will take place at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
