Joseph W. Mitchell, 54, of Ambridge, was reunited with his beloved wife, Deborah Bernard Mitchell, on Tuesday, February 23, 2016. His passing occurred at Heritage Valley, Beaver.Born March 31, 1961, in Maramec, OK, he was a son of Anna L. Mitchell of Coperas Cove, TX, and the late Edwin Mitchell. Raised in Texas, he entered the US Air Force in 1981, and worked as a crew chief at Bergstrom Air Force Base in Austin, Texas. He was later transferred to the US Air Force 911th Air Wing Lift in Moon Township, from where he retired with 30 years of service. Joe was currently employed by Williams Scotsman, Moon Township, installing HVAC in their construction trailers. A race car enthusiast in his leisure time, he enjoyed restoring cars alongside his son, Joey, and was particularly proud of his 1968 Ford Fairlane restoration. When he lived in Texas, Joe could be found racing on the short track at Long Horn Speedway in Austin. Later in Pittsburgh he attended races at Pittsburgh International Race Complex and Jennerstown Speedway Complex. While he enjoyed racing, his true passion was spending time with his grandkids.In addition to his mother he will be sadly missed by his three children, Joseph Mitchell and his wife, Danielle, of Ellwood City, April Leggs of Baden, and Jennifer Waligora-Sergeant of New Virginia, Iowa; five grandchildren, Justin Leggs, Ryley Mitchell and Jayson, Jillian and Conner Sergeant; three brothers, Edwin, Sandy and Michael (Brenda), all in Texas; three sisters, Lori (Brian) Lyons in Kansas, Marty Netherland of New Sewickley Township and Amy (Keith) Munroe of Beaver; his in-laws, Vernon and Mary Bernard of New Sewickley Township and Sandra Idzojtic in Kansas and a brother-in-law, Jess Bernard of Freedom, along with special friends, Jimmy Miller, Don (Pat) Gunther, Johnny Murner, Mike (Debbie) Polonoli, Darrin (Dana) Parish, Bob Wiant and Adam Welling.Friends will be received on Friday, February 26th, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca, where services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Reverend Andrew Verner, pastor of Baden United Methodist Church, officiating.Entombment will follow in Beaver Cemetery Mausoleum.Full military honors will be provided by the Marine Corps JROTC of Ambridge.The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at UPMC Cancer Center and Radiology-Oncology Department.To share online condolences, get directions and other information, please visit simpsonfuneralhome.com.
