Josephine (Despina) Matko from West Aliquippa, at age 87, died on Friday, September 29, 2017.Remembered fondly as a proud mother, a devoted wife, and the silliest grandmother who never felt it necessary to stop monkeying around. Friends, family, and the dedicated members of her church, will always recall Josephine’s joy of Greek music. Tapping her toes to the bouzouki and dancing at every opportunity, her laugh and mischievous smile will continue to resonate with all. Even more memorably, Josephine will never be forgotten as the bartender at the Chick’s Dutch Bar, Monaca for 23 years, where her wit and fierce dedication to appropriate language left a lasting impression. Married for 59 years to the love of her life, Allfus Matko until his death in 2007.She is survived by five children, Linda Happach, Patricia Davis, Joanne Riley, Ellen Hill and Nick Matko; thirteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.Family and Friends will be received Tuesday, October 3rd from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Simpson Funeral and Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca.  Friends will also be received on Wednesday from 9 am until the time of funeral service at 10 am in Kimisis Tis Theotokou Greek Orthodox Church, 2111 Davidson Street, Aliquippa with Father Doctor Stelyios Muksuris, officiating.A Trisagion service will be conducted Tuesday at 7 pm in the funeral home.To share online condolences, get directions and other information, please visit simpsonfuneralhome.com.
