June Eileen Shively, 86, a lifelong resident of Freedom, passed away Sunday, February 8, 2015, at Beaver Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.Born June 21, 1928, in Freedom, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Julia Metzger. She was a lifelong member of Prince of Peace (formerly Trinity) Lutheran Church in Freedom where she had been active in the choir and women’s group for many years. Her strong faith remained unwavering to the very end. She was a wonderful mother and wife. She took great pride in caring for her family and home. She always had a smile to share and a positive word. Many times she even had a few jokes to share.Surviving are her loving husband of 65 years, Ralston Shively; three children, Diane (Bob) Funkhouser, Thomas (Cheri) Shively and Joyce (Chuck) Griffith; grandchildren, Rachel (Greg) Nola, Aaron (Kristi) Funkhouser, Beth (Frank) Trputec, Adam Funkhouser, Mark (Jen) Funkhouser, Jessica (Tom) Nelson and Ben Funkhouser and 16 great-grandchildren.In addition to her parents June was preceded in death by a great-grandson Josh Trputec in 2011.Friends will be received Tuesday, February 10th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca. Friends may also call on Wednesday from 10 am until the time of service at 11 am at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 60 Rochester Road, Freedom. Pastor Michael Podeszwa will officiate.Interment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.Special thanks to the great staff at Beaver Valley nursing and Rehab for taking such good care of Mom for the past 3 years.
