Katherine ‘Mae’ Meany, 80 of Hopewell Township, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away on Monday, July 9, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving family.Mae was the daughter of the late Paul A. Gillin and Esther H. Gillin. She loved to read, knit, do crossword puzzles, crochet, flower gardening and watching the birds around her home.  For over 20 years, she was a bus matron for the Beaver Valley Intermediate Unit.  Working with the children gave her great joy.  Her kindness and compassion earned her everyone’s love.  Her greatest joy in life was her children and grandchildren.  Mae was a member of the VanKirk Lutheran Church, Center Township.She will be sadly missed by her husband of 62 years, Frederick B. Meany, her daughter of Cynthia Burianek and her son, Robert Meany.  She was lovingly referred to as ‘Nan’ by her grandchildren; Sean C. Herman (Danielle Stowers), Brian P. (Amy) Herman, Tiffany Brewer (Alex Gloor), and Robert Meany, Jr. seven great grandchildren; Kyleigh, Isaac, Marah, Jakob, Abby, Jaxon, and Alexis.  A sister, Grace Kalervo, a brother, Elmer Gillin and a sister in law, Marietta Schriner and numerous nieces and nephews.Friends will be received on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca where services will be held on Thursday at 10:00 am with Pastor Scott Branderhorst of Mt.
