Kathy J. Smith Moore, 68 of Monaca (Center Township) was called Home on Sunday evening October 25, 2020 while under the care of Good Samaritan Hospice, Beaver.
Kathy had many health challenges over the years. Despite the gravity of her health, Kathy continued to bounce back from adversity and maintained her sense of humor.
A daughter of the late Charles W. and Irene R. (Alexander) Smith. Kathy grew up in Monaca during the 50’s and 60’s with her brothers Charles and Richard and attended local schools and graduated from Monaca High School with the class of 1970. Following graduation, she first found employment with J&L Steel, Tin Mill Division in Aliquippa. The majority of her working career was with Freedom United Credit Union as their marketing director. Kathy married James P. Moore and became an active mother involved as a scout leader and served several terms as president of the Center Area School’s P.T.A. She gave all she could in service including the Center Township Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. As her children grew into adults, she was blessed to become a grandmother and eventually a great grandmother. She is also fondly remembered for making her signature pumpkin rolls and cookies for the holidays. With an infectious smile and warm heart, Kathy welcomed each day as a gift and every person as a friend.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James P. Moore on December 30, 1999, and a brother, Charles Smith.
Kathy is survived by two loving children; Shaun Moore, and Heidi Smith, her grandchildren; Brittany (Justin) Gary, and Cody Baxa, a great grandson, Dominic Gary, her brother, Richard Smith, her cousin, Linda Holic, her two aunts Hattie Gitts, and June Stalnecker, and an uncle, Donald “Buck” Smith, and numerous loving friends, all who held a special place in her heart, June, Deb, Bev, Becky, Ginger, Doris, Virginia, and the list goes on for as many people touched her life as she touched theirs.
