Kimiko (Kim) Porter nee Hashimoto, 92, left this earth behind on September 11, 2019 to go to her final resting place. Kim was preceded in death by her husband Gene H. Porter in 2006, a daughter, Tina Marie in 1962, her father and mother Ekichi and Taki Hashimoto, a sister Fumiko Yano, a brother Takeo Hashimoto, father and mother-in-law Carl and Olive Porter, four brothers-in-law; Ronald, William, Dale and Dennis Porter.
She is survived by her son Carl Stephen Porter, a sister Ayako Tsuruda in Japan, two sister-in-law, Priscilla Micinko and Carol Lugowski, as well as numerous nieces and nephews both in the United States and Japan.
Kim was born on December 26, 1926 in Hitoyoski, Japan. She met her husband Gene while he was stationed there in the U.S. Air Force. They were married on July 28, 1955 in Fukuoka, Japan. They moved several times living in Kentucky, Ohio, California, and Okinawa while Gene pursued his military career in the Air Force. After his retirement they made their home in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania.
Currently Kim and her son Carl have been residents of Cambridge Village personal care facility in Chippewa Township. They made many friends there, both with fellow residents and staff. Thanks to all the kind caregivers at Cambridge, especially Kayla and Erin. Kim is at peace and will be missed by all who knew her.
There will be no viewing but a remembrance gathering will be held on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca. Private interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Aliquippa on Saturday.
