Laura B. Pinksaw, 89, of Salem, OH, formerly of Monaca, passed away on Monday, May 29, 2017.Born August 2, 1927, in Ross Hill, Beaver Falls, PA, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Dumbroski) Koczur. Laura was the youngest of 9 children and was the only one to graduate high school (New Brighton High School in 1945). On June 25, 1949, she was united in marriage to Joseph Pinksaw. Laura was always a devoted wife, loving mother, and loyal friend.Laura had previously worked as a decorative painter at Phoenix Glass in Monaca, and a gift wrapper at Kaufmann’s in Rochester. During the 20 years that Laura’s husband Joe served as President of the Polish National Alliance Club 841, she helped in the kitchen preparing dinners and decorating the hall. She was also a member, treasurer, and secretary of the Polish Falcons of America. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, Joe who was the National Director of the PNA and visited the White House when Bill Clinton welcomed the Polish Solidarnosz President, Lech Walesa in 1996. Laura attended 4 Steeler super bowls with Joe and great friends, Stas and Frannie Jusczak. She was a member of the Christian Mothers and CD of A at St. John the Baptist Church in Monaca and a former Girl Scout Leader in Troop 109. She loved polka dancing, bingo and being busy.She enjoyed many years as a resident of Franciscan Manor where she was trained to become the first statewide resident adviser for the PEER group. Laura encouraged the other residents to join her in facility activities, movies, and Bible studies.She will be sadly missed by her daughter, Michaeline (David) Veden of Sacramento, CA; numerous nieces and nephews especially Stanley (Jean) Koczur, Jr of Atwater, OH and Mary (Greg) Merritt of Negley, OH; Cathy Sue(Cliff) Parsley of Belton, MO, godmother to Christine (Borkovic) Majors, Sandra Fidura Phillips, and Stacey EpersiIn addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Pinksaw on November 9, 2004. and her siblings John (Stella) Preski, Stanley (Stella) Koczur, Leo (Francis) Koczur, Frank (Caroline) Koczur, Mary (Adam) Zubroski, Helen Paul, Josephine (Anthony) Cienkowski, and Jennie (Henry) Fidura, and brother in-law, Frank “Colonel” (Gloria) Pinksaw of Belton, MO.Friends will be received Friday, June 2, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca, where parting prayers will be offered on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. followed by a mass of Christian burial at 9:30 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monaca.Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.The family would like to thank the staff of Franciscan Manor in Patterson Heights, PA, Allay Senior Care in Lisbon, OH and Essex II of Salem in Salem, OH for the loving and compassionate care they provided during Laura’s sunset years.To share online condolences, get directions and other information, please visit Simpsonfuneralhome.com.
