Laura M. Marksteiner, 99, formerly of McKeesport, was reunited with her husband and children on Sunday, December 1, 2019. Her passing occurred at Cranberry Place where she had resided for the last three and a half years.
Born May 4, 1920 in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Rose Johnston. Laura worked in the cafeteria at McKeesport High School for nineteen and a half years. She was a longtime member of the Corpus Christi Catholic Church and a member of Christian Mothers and Catholic Daughters of America. Laura was a loving grandmother and was proud of her grandchildren. Her favorite saying was we all came from “Good Stock”.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Albert Marksteiner on October 1, 1997, a son, Joseph A. Marksteiner on February 11, 2012 and a daughter, Karen Miller on September 12, 2014, two brothers, Bud and John Johnston, and a sister, Alice Chuchla.
She will be sadly missed by her daughter in law, Rebecca Marksteiner of Potter Township, seven grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren,
Friends will be received on Thursday, December 5, 2019 from 8:30 to 9:30 am in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca, where prayers will be offered at 9:30 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 am in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monaca. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, North Versailles Township.
Contributions may be made in Laura’s memory to the St. Vincent de Paul Society c/o St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 1409 Pennsylvania Avenue, Monaca, PA 15061.
The family would like to thank the staff of Cranberry Place for their compassionate care that was given to Laura.
