Leanore (Lea) Elizabeth Beachem of Monaca, PA died on Friday, August 6, 2021. She was born in Weston, Lewis County, WV on September 20 1946 to W.C. and Elizabeth Rohr Means. She is survived by her loving husband William (Bill) Beachem whom she married Jun 11, 1977 and step children Alicia (Shawn) Strope and Rachel Beachem, and seven grandchildren, as well as her sister Trudy (Rob) Withey. In addition to her parents Leanore was predeceased by a brother William Conrad Means Jr and step daughter Anne (Enie) (Robert) Aumer. Lea loved music playing everything from piano to piccolo, and after graduating from WV University, she served as a Music teacher in the West Greene school district in Greene County, PA. After retiring from teaching, she enjoyed showing her beloved golden retrievers. She also did seasonal work at Jackson’s Mill in Weston, West Virginia demonstrating and presenting workshops in spinning, weaving, and basketry. Her work was acknowledged in February of 2007 by receiving the West Virginia History Hero Award in Charleston, WV for her dedication to preserving and sharing Appalachian culture and history. Lea was also a member of The Daughters of the American Revolution. Lea and Bill enjoyed hunting in West Virginia at Alum Bridge and in Pennsylvania.
In accordance to Lea’s wishes, a viewing and memorial services will be omitted. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation to the Beaver County Humane Society, 3394 Broadhead Rd, Aliquippa, PA 15001.
