Linda S. Heckman, 72, of Center Township, passed away Friday, October 9, 2015, at St. Barnabas Health System in Gibsonia.Born June 23, 1943, in Rochester, she was a daughter of the late Reed M. and Dorothy S. (Creese) Heckman. A graduate of Monaca High School, Class of 1961, Linda furthered her education at Geneva College, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. A dedicated and respected teacher, she began her career with Monaca School District as an elementary teacher in 1965, and remained there until her retirement in 2002. Linda will be fondly remembered as a role model to her students. A member of the Monaca Education Association, Pennsylvania State Education Association and the National Education Association, Linda was also a board member of Center Monaca Potter Education Association Federal Credit Union, a loyal volunteer at Vicary Mansion after her retirement, and a charter member of the Ohio Riverbelles Chapter of the Red Hat Society. She also enjoyed travelling.Surviving are a sister, Sondra (late David) Sinnett of Baileys Harbor, Wisconsin; two nephews, Randal Sinnett and his wife, Kathleen, and their children, Maria, Adam and Rachel of Mt. Pleasant, Wisconsin, and Thomas Sinnett and his wife, Barbara, and their children, Logan and Amanda, of Racine, Wisconsin, and longtime friends and colleagues, Angela M. Feragonia of Ellwood City and Ruth Ann Dewhirst, of Monaca.Friends will be received Saturday from 1 p.m. until the time of service at 3 p.m. in Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca. Reverend Robert Strobel, pastor of Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, Monaca.
