Lindsay David Murray, 90, a lifelong resident of Monaca, passed away Monday, March 4, 2013, at his home.
Born August 29, 1922, he was a son of the late William McCall and Elizabeth (Brannon) Murray.
A graduate of Monaca High School Mr. Murray entered the US Army on February 14, 1955, and honorably served his country during World War II. He was awarded the American Theatre Ribbon, the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal, the Victory Medal World War II and the Meritorious Unit Award for his service.
Lindsay meet his future wife-to-be (the former Elizabeth A. Holman) on a blind date. The couple married in 1951 at Betty?s grandparents? home on Adams Street, Rochester, where Engle?s Florist is now located. Elizabeth passed away March 7, 2010.
Lindsay gained employment at the former J & L Steel Corp.?s Aliquippa works in the roll shop where he advanced to a foreman?s position.
He was a life member of the American Legion Post # 580 and the Monaca Turners. Some of his favorite past times were hunting, fishing and bowling.
In addition to his parents and wife, Lindsay was the last of his immediate family.
He leaves a son, David W. Murray and a grandson, Arthur John Murray.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 5th, from 7 to 8 pm in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, March 6th, at 10:30 a.m. in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
