Madeline L. Barr, 85, of Monaca, passed away Wednesday evening, October 24, 2012.
Born July 31, 1927, in Freedom, she was a daughter of the late Emmuel and Ann (Morelli) Martin. She was married to the late John H. Barr, Sr. who preceded her in death on November 1, 1995. She was a retiree of the former Keystone Bakery in Bridgewater where she was employed for more than 30 years. A member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monaca, Madeline was also an active member of American Legion Post 580 Ladies Auxiliary. In her leisure time she enjoyed playing bingo and trips to Las Vegas.
She will be sadly missed by her two sons, John H. (Karen) Barr, Jr., of Monaca, and Tom Barr of Kent, Ohio; three grandchildren, Jason (Amanda) Barr of Center Twp., Jeff (Paola) Barr of San Jose, Calif. and Sarah (Michael) Gregory of Beaver; four great-grandchildren, Kateline, Preston, Micaela and Paulo; a brother, Bill (Dorothy) Martin of Conway and four sisters, Ann Young of New Brighton, Jean Kisic of Beaver Falls, Viola Martin of Freedom and Isebell Morton in Georgia.
In addition to his husband and parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Alvin and Fred Martin and two sisters, Edith Martin and Lillian Daughtery.
Friends will be received Sunday from 12 noon to 4 p.m. in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca, where a blessing service will be held Monday at 10 a.m. Fr. Michael Ruffalo will officiate.
Interment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.
