Marcella (Buccini) Hopkin, a 28-year resident of Vanport and formerly of Monaca, passed away Friday morning, August 31, 2012, at St. John?s Specialty Care in Mars.
Born in Monaca she was a daughter of the late James and Anna (Musante) Buccini. Marcella was first employed at Rheem Manufacturing as a switchboard operator; in the office at Freedom Oil and later at Bob Stout?s Car Dealership. She retired from Westinghouse Cutler-Hammer Eaton after 42 years of service.
As a young girl Marcella listened to the Pittsburgh Pirate games on radio with her dad. She continued following the Pirates whether they were winning or losing and loving them. Marcella could answer any questions about the team from the early years up until recently. She had a vast collection of music CD?s, numbering well over 500, ranging from Ozzy Osborne (rock) to jazz, big band, country and oldies. Marcella enjoyed reading the newspaper while listening to music, playing cards, and loved shopping anywhere, anytime of the day or night. She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Beaver, and had a strong belief in her faith. Marcella was a tiny woman with a big heart; always thinking of everyone else first and herself last.
She leaves a daughter, Jamie Hopkin Smrzlick and a son-in-law, Timothy Smrzlick, whom she treated as a son, of Beaver, and her four-legged ?grandbabies?, Wilma, Pippy, Marcell, Tiggerz and Cazper.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Catherine Kosylo; a brother, James Buccini, Jr. and beloved ?grandcat?, Bonkers.
Friends are welcome to attend a mass of Christian burial on Wednesday, September 5th, at 10:30 a.m. at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Beaver. Private interment will follow in St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Center Township.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Marcella?s memory to The Angel Fund of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic School, 370 East End Avenue, Beaver, PA 15009.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca, PA 15061.
