Margaret D. ?Maggie? Kucan, 98, of Monaca, was reunited with her family on Saturday, May 26, 2012.
A lifelong resident of Monaca, she was born on Feb 10, 1914, a daughter of Croatian immigrants, Stefan and Barbara Kovacic.
She was a graduate of Monaca High School, class of 1932 and later of the Pittsburgh Beauty School.
Maggie had operated a beauty shop in her Monaca Heights home for a number of years until her retirement in 2000.
She played cards weekly at the Monaca 5th Ward Fire Hall and years ago enjoyed attending the polka dances which were held at the Monaca Croatian Club. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church., Monaca.
In addition to her parents, Maggie was preceded in death by her first husband, John Pukanich who died while serving in the military during WW II and her second husband, John Kucan who passed away on July 9, 2002. She was also preceded by two sisters: Rose Kovacic and Katie Stipe and by three brothers: Joe, George and Frank Kovacic.
She leaves a daughter, Susan Hulme and her husband, Bill of Monaca. Two grandsons: Brad (Genna) Hulme and Matt (Hannah) Hulme. Three great grandchildren.
A sister, Ann Turbish and her husband, Steve of Monaca.
Several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received Wednesday, May 30th from 3 ? 8 pm in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca, where a blessing service will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Monaca.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Friendship Ridge 3 Main and Heartland Hospice for the compassionate care Maggie received.
