A very loving and devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Marian Leitschaft, 92, of Monaca, died Thursday, March 1, 2012 at Beaver Valley Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. She will be sadly missed and always remembered with love.
‘Home is where the heart is’ was her personal belief. Marian enjoyed taking care of her family and friends and welcomed all who arrived at her door. She touched many lives in a special and compassionate way. Her home was decorated in keeping with the seasons to celebrate her zest for life. Because of her special relationship with her grandfather, Patrick, she was proud of her Irish heritage and especially loved St. Patrick’s Day.
Born June 30, 1919 to the late William Cushnen and Barbara Glass Cushnen, she was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and attended Monaca schools.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Steve Leitschaft, her son, Stephen Leitschaft III, and two sisters, Doris Renner and Thelma Boren.
Surviving is her daughter, Barbara Rubino and son-in-law, Tony Rubino, Monaca; daughter-in-law, Audrey Leitschaft, Monaca; sister, Ruth Kinkead and husband Jack, Monaca; brother-in-law, Warren Renner, Pittsburgh; three grandchildren and their spouses, Anthony and Julie Rubino, Beaver, Mark and Stephanie Rubino, Beaver, and Amy and Joe Singer, Monaca; five great-grandchildren, Stephen and Casey Singer, Isabel and Fiona Rubino, and Victoria Rubino; two beloved young men, Michael T. Rubino and Daniel Rubino, and many loving nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received Sunday, March 4, 2012, from 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the SIMPSON FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca, (724-728-4000), where prayers will be offered Monday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monaca.
Interment will follow at Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.
The family would like to thank the staff at Beaver Valley Rehabilitation and Nursing Center and St. Teresa Hospice for the wonderful care that Marian received.
