Marion ‘Joyce’ Pyecha, formerly of Monaca, passed away peacefully August 17, 2018 of complications resulting from dementia. She was born August 26, 1936 in Aliquippa, Pa. to Anna and George Pyecha. Marion graduated from Monaca High School and received a BA Degree from The University of Miami. She taught physical education in the Florida and California school systems. She loved the beach and later moved to Hawaii where she embraced the rich landscape and culture. Marion eventually returned to Florida where she retired as a Public Assistance Specialist. Upon retiring, she returned to Monaca for nine years to assist in the care of her Mother. Marion later returned to Florida where she became ill. She was moved to Chapel Hill, NC where she spent her last days in the care and company of her loving family.Marion is preceded in death by her parents, brother Tlmothy D. Pyecha, and ex-husband James Veary. She is survived by brother John (Helen) Pyecha, sister Janet (Paul) Svihra, sisters-in-law Carol Pyecha and Emma Veary, step children, and many nieces and nephews.Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21 at Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Ave, Monaca.A memorial mass will be held Sat., Sept. 22 at 1:00 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monaca.
