Martin Decanini, 68 of Conway passed away Saturday evening, April 11, 2020 at his residence.
Born September 4, 1951 in Pittsburgh, he was a son of the late Dante and Mary (Calgelia) Decanini.
Following graduation from high school, Marty attended culinary school. Like many young men from Conway, Marty pursed a career with the railroad from where he retired as a car inspector with Conrail.
Personal Information:
A note from Marty: “Now that I am absent from the body and face to face with the Lord, I want to thank everyone, especially my daughters, family and friends for all that you have done and given me the last 9 months of my life. Enjoy yourselves today because the next time we get together for a party it will be for an eternity!” (Marty would like you to play the Golden Girls theme song here since he is not around to sing it to you!)
Marty was a lifetime Conway resident who became a hometown celebrity, although he always dreamed of Hollywood and doing stand up comedy. He had a personality as loud and memorable as his unmistakable voice. Everyone who knew him had a story about him that they’d rattle off as soon as they heard his name mentioned. He was the life of the party and always left us laughing. He always played the funny man, but there was a heart of gold in there underneath his gruff exterior. He might not have always gotten in right, but he always tried and loved hard. He loved “his girls” and would talk about them to anyone who would listen, he was always proud. He was a fun Pap to his grandsons that live close by. He enjoyed watching them, making them laugh and having special moments with all of them. He was a bit of an artist and enjoyed drawing. He was a nature lover, animal lover and bird watcher. There was nothing he enjoyed more than a Summer car ride around Beaver County singing oldies and shouting lyrics out the windows at passersby. He loved the Three Stooges and could recite every episode. He loved watching Pittsburgh Sports. An avid lottery player, he had dreams of winning big, but still got excited when he won $20! He found religion, listening to R.B. Theme, and shared his faith with everyone. He even started a Bible Study during the last months of his life that he found great comfort in. He knew that when he left this world for the next that he’d be packing his bags for Heaven. He would love for us all to get together and celebrate his life retelling stories of his antics, unfortunately we can’t at this time because of Coronavirus, but once we are in the clear arrangements will be made. In the meantime, please remember Marty as he always was. To be continued….
He is survived by his daughters: Deanna (John) Bautti, Dawn (Brandon) Fowler and Lori (Bobby) Garza. Five grandchildren: Roman, Joshua, Owen, Kian and Kalea. His siblings: Dante (Ruth) Decanini and Andrea (Paul) Groves.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dante and Mary Decanini.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Conway VFD or the Conway Police Department.
Cremation arrangements are under the care of Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, Monaca.
