Mary Allyn (Spickerman) Newman, 74, of Monaca, passed away Saturday morning, August 25, 2012, surrounded by her family.
Born September 3, 1937, in New Brighton, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Naomi (Klinesmith) Spickerman. Mary was a graduate of New Brighton High School and Geneva College. On September 23, 1961, she and Henry L. Newman were united in marriage. The couple loved traveling throughout the United States, but coming home and being with family was what she treasured most. She was a faithful member of Monaca United Methodist Church.
In addition to her husband, Henry, Mary will be sadly missed by her two sons, David Newman, his wife, Cinzia, and their children, Alexa and David of Brighton Township and Gary Newman and his wife, Dana, of Center Township; a sister, Helen Kennedy and her husband, Bud, of Beaver Falls; a brother, Richard Spickerman and his wife, Mary Louise, of Tempe, Arizona; a sister-in-law, Olive Tyson and her husband, Bill, of North Sewickley Township; two brothers-in-law, Robert Newman and his wife, Karen, of New Brighton, and Harry Newman and his wife, Jane, of Fairview Park, Ohio, many loving nieces and nephews and her beloved kitty, ?Ginger?.
Along with her parents Mary was preceded in death by a brother, James Spickerman, who passed away Sunday, August 12, 2012, and his wife, Mary Lou, of Margate, Florida and a brother-in-law, Donald Newman of Monaca.
Friends will be received Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m. in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca, where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 12 noon. Her pastor, Rev. David Vaughn, will officiate.
Entombment will follow in Sylvania Hills Mausoleum.
