Mary A. Tomasello, 95 of Monaca, passed away on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at her residence with her loving family at her side. Born December 3, 1921 in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Frank Sr. and Gaetana Viola. Mary was united in marriage on August 22, 1945 to James A. Tomasello who preceded her in death on October 22, 2008. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Monaca, Christian Mothers, and one of the founding members of St. John the Baptist School PTG. Mary was known for her cooking talents. Her specialties included her Italian dishes, homemade pies, and Italian cookies. Her skills were put to good use at the Penn State Beaver campus from 1969 to 1983 in the food service department. Mary was also a member of the Carpenter Union #422 Auxiliary.In addition to her husband and parents Mary was preceded in death by a brother Nicholas Viola; two sisters and brothers in law, Margaret and Louis Magnotta and Louise and Dominic Presto, a sister in law, Frances Tomasello and an infant grandson Jeffrey Milligan.She leaves three children, Anthony Tomasello and his wife Jan of Sewickley Heights, Grace Milligan and her husband John, and Anna LoFaso and her husband Tom, all of Monaca. Grandchildren: Jim(Jennifer) Milligan of Mesa, Arizona, Josie(James) Swope of Streetsboro, Ohio, Natalie(Kevin) Anderson of Monaca, T.J.(Carrie) LoFaso of New Brighton, Joanne(Chuck) Chirico of Monaca, and Josh(Deanne Branch) Milligan of Mesa, Arizona. Greatgrandchildren: Michael, Jeffrey and Julia Milligan; Ryan Hague, Gabe and Nick Gill; Raeleigh Swope; Jackson, Maddix and Ella Anderson; Sophia LoFaso, Zoey Chirico, Irelynn and Jase Milligan. Brothers and sisters in law: Frank(Rita) Viola, Mike(Florance) Viola, and Rosalind Viola. Mary leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews especially her niece, Eleanor Cavalier and nephew, Chook Magnotta.Friends will be received on Sunday, July 30th from 2:00 to 8:00 pm in the Simpson Funeral and Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca, where prayers will be offered on Monday at 9:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Fr. Michael Ruffalo will be the celebrant.
