Mary Elizabeth Young, 87 of Monaca went to be with the Lord on January 18, 2013 while living the last year in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Mary was born August 30, 1925, she was the daughter of the late George and Elizabeth (Mitchell) Douds.
Mary was a life long resident of Monaca and worked at Phoenix Glass Co. for 40 years. She was a glass sprayer, packer, and sample sprayer for new products when needed. Also, Mary was the Vice-President of the Union at Phoenix for a number of years. She was a member of Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, Monaca. She enjoyed traveling and went to a number of places on the bus tours. She enjoyed going to the Senior Center and engaging in the activities with her sisters.
In addition to her parents and husband Edward Young who preceded her in death January 16, 1992, her brother Andrew Douds and two sisters, Caroline Hocanson and Stella Thomas. Mary leaves two daughters Cerella Kost her husband Dave Kost of Aliquippa, Pennsylvania and Stella Malobabich her husband Nicholas Malobabich of Manteo, North Carolina, 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Two sisters: Catherine (Richard) Stephens of Port St. Lucie, FL, Irene (William) Flint of Center Twp. and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and Friends will be received on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 from 11:30am until the time of service at 1 p.m. at Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca.
Entombment will follow in Sylvania Hills Mausoleum.
