Helen (Fillinger) Ohse, 95, formerly of Monaca passed away on February 27, 2018.She was born on December 30, 1922 in Mercerville, Ohio and was united in marriage to William Taft Ohse on December 13, 1941.Helen’s first job was at an airplane propeller factory during WWII. She later was employed as a riverboat cook, first for Guttman Oil and then for Monarch Towing. A master seamstress, Helen’s last employment was with JoAnn Fabrics at the Northern Lights Shopping Center from where she retired at the age of 84. In addition to sewing, Helen enjoyed gardening, baking, fishing, crocheting and reading.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William Ohse on Aug. 9, 1982, ten siblings and faithful canine companion, Gigi.Helen is survived by Betty Gooch of West Virginia and numerous nieces and nephews.Friends will be received on Friday, March 2, 2018 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca followed by a funeral service on Saturday at 11 am.
